“Eichenberg’s portraits embody a Renaissance lexicon but continue the discourse on portraiture from a more contemporary perspective,” is how Marina Press, the art historian and art consultant from New York City, characterizes David’s work.

David never switches off his inner artist and is always scanning for faces and features that would be interesting subjects for his paintings.

“I am especially interested in people who wear themselves on the outside,” says David. “Be it through body adornment, tattoos or simply the way they choose to style their hair.”

A confident painter, interested in political and social issues, David has more interest in outsiders than mainstream people. Through his works, he hopes to share the beauty of the people he encounters every day, and to create a historical record of human diversity and beauty at the beginning of the 21st century.

David’s medium of choice is oil on aluminum composite panel. Oil, because it’s forgiving and allows time for tweaks. Composite aluminum panels, because they don’t deform or degrade and offer an ultra-smooth surface to work on, preventing distractions for the painter and the viewer.
